hi,

I started Descent 2 the other day without the CD in the drive and I noticed
that I got to see mission briefings I normally don't get at all. What's the
deal with this?

TIA

IIRC the briefings are in the {other,robots}-{h,l}.mvl (high/lowres)
files. If the game (d2x I presume) can't access these it won't play these.

To see these also while playing without the CD copy these files to the
datadir, on linux /usr/local/share/games/d2x, dunno about Win.

The problem is, that (with the orignal binaries) I only see the mission
briefings when I *don't* put in the CD. If I put in the CD, all I get is a
movie which says which system I'm entering.
