One way to progress from being a beginner to being an expert is to
read and follow the instructions on the screen. The screen
instructions VERY CLEARLY ask you to choose a slot to save your game
in, and then ask you to supply a name for the saved game. If you
don't want to save the game at that point, you press ESC. As for
codes and secrets, RTFFAQ!

It's hard not to be hostile to someone who doesn't even want to read
the instructions on the screen. Or someone who can't type to save his
life, either.

Well, if you were somewhat intelligent, you would have read the friggin'
FAQ which contains all of the information that you requested and much
much more...
If the cheats are not posted in there, you can find them posted about 20
times on this newsgroup.

Take it easy. _I'm_ not evil. Don't invite flames.

Well Marcellus, frankly, we all tire of the same questions... that's why there
are FAQ's. The cheat codes are in the latest faq, which I will e-mail you. I'm
now playing registered descent, but I know shareware gives you a chance to
save at the end of each level. (Reg'd lets you save in-level)

Regarding finding exits... the answer is to find the exist _before_ blowing up
the reactor. The exits, amazingly enough" are doors that are marked "exit."
They open automatically when you blow the reactors. On some levels I would
recommend practicing the run from the reactor room to the exit a couple of
times _before_ blowing the reactor so you don't get freaked out and lost while
the clock is counting down.
