When trying to load a saved game, or even playback one of the recorded camera files, Descent bombs out with a "missing file" error message. I can't catch the entire message, but it says something close to: "file not found: moon???? - iff error" and then goes right to dos. I checked the distribution disks, but didn't see the file. HELP!

Tell you what... to be perfectly honest with you, it seems to me that you must have pirated Descent. Now, I could be wrong, and if so, I apologize and you should send me some email, and I'll look into it as I thought that was only in the pirated beta. If however, those "disks" that you searched were actually zip files, then please delete them, dial 1-800-INTERPLAY, apologize for pirating, and order Descent. Then, wait a week or two for Mr. mailman to arrive. Take your disks out of the purchased copy of Descent, type A:INSTALL at the prompt and then run Descent. Then, if you still get this error (and I am quite sure that you won't) then email me and I'll personally take a look into it. John Slagel Parallax Software

Then, if you still get this error (and I am quite sure that you > won't) then email me and I'll personally take a look into it. I received my CD-ROM yesterday installed it immediately. The installer crashed twice and I was left with an installed image that exited with the error. Can't load file moonx.yyy (or something close to that). The "x" was the number 2 or 3 (I saw both) and the "yyy" was an extension that, I'm sorry but, I did not record. I read the tech tips from the interplay tech-support http and tried again with most of my extensions off (I used the dos6 Fkey that lets you step through config.sys and autoexec.bat so I got the mouse, CD-ROM, SB16 and memory manager stuff loaded.) This second time it did not crash and ran fine. Just in case this helps. -- --alen ... I looked into this and it seems that when you boot with the f5 key held down for a clean boot, dos doesn't allocate enough file handles for what descent requires. Try using a config.sys that has a files=10 or higher. John Slagel Parallax Software
