Folks, I just bought a new SB AWE32 and all is well except Descent 1.1. No matter what I set up for music (SB, SBPro, GM, or native AWE32), if I set the sound to SB16/AWE32, the game locks up soon after starting (Ctrl-Alt-Del does nothing). If I set the sound to SBPro or SB, everything works. Hardware: Genoa TurboExpress 486 Motherboard, SiS Chipset Intel 486DX2/66 CPU with 256K Write-Back Cache 32MB RAM (2 4Mx32 SIMMs) VLB IDE-I/O VLB Genoa Phantom 32i Video Card VLB Buslogic 445S SCSI Card @ Port 330h New SB AWE32, A220 I5 D1 H5, MIDI @ Port 300h 2 IDE Hard Drives Toshiba 3401 2x CD-ROM Drive Software: MS-DOS 6.22 QEMM-386 7.04 Buslogic SCSI & CD-ROM Drivers SB AWE32 Drivers I tried both my normal configuration and a boot disk with nothing but MS-DOS 6.22 using HIMEM.SYS. The problem persisted. I haven't had any problems with any other games which support the AWE32 in native mode, such as DOOM II and Wing Commander III. Please help if you can; your help will be greatly appreciated. Jerry J. Shekhel j...@ix.netcom.com

For goodness sake dont load QEMM with anything.
Dont load the AWEUTIL TSR. Just set up the reverb, chorus, and interupt
junk and go from there. DOS4GW the extended memory driver used by DOOM,
Descent and the like dosnt need Himem, EMM386 and especially QEMM. Format
a floppy with /s and add nothing else. Boot from that floppy and try it.
You dont even need to load dos high. I have the AWE32 and have not had any
problems todate with descent.
