If you enjoy multiplayer network games and live near
Portland, Oregon, you might be interested in the
Portland Network Gamers Group. Send email to
cau...@teleport.com
for additionl information. A brief description of the
group:
=========================================================
Schedule
Next Meeting is on 20-21 January
Meetings are normally held on the third weekend of each month
Location
Meeting rooms in motels located in southwest Portland near the
junction of Interstate-5 and Interstate-205.
Cost
Currently there are no membership dues. People that attend a
meeting split the meeting room rental cost equally, usually $4 to
$8 per person.
Hardware and Software Requirements
16-bit ethernet card (NE2000 compatible) with a connection for twisted
pair (10Base-T) cable. It is a good idea to get a "combo" card that also
has a connection for coaxial (10Base-2) cable. The card should come with
disket that has the IPX network drivers and object files to build network
drivers from. There is no reason to pay more than $35-40 for a network
card.
Twisted pair cable at least 25 feet long and preferably 50 feet long.
Portland
Radio Supply (SE Grand) and Norvac (Tualatin) are good places to buy cable
and will cost $10-15.
IBM-compatible PC
Games Played
Current favorites are:
Descent
Command and Conquer
Doom, Doom II, and Heretic
Games that we have but don't play as often:
Apache
Falcon 3.0, Hornet, and MiG-29
Hexen
Spaceward Ho!
Spectre VR
Terminal Velocity
Werewolf v. Comanche
