You should get a more popular OS.  Have you ever seen a box with a sticker on
it that says "Works under DR-DOS!!!"?  :)

Try OS/2 Warp.  It's great!

  Yeah, send a note to the guys at Parallax.   The address should be

I forgot to mention that there is a file on wuarchive.wustl.edu
in /pub/MSDOS_UPLOADS/descent called ver600.zip.
I THINK it has something to do with DRDOS if I remember
correctly.

:Yes, this (from what we hear) is a problem with DRDOS and the way it
:responds to version checks.  There is a utility on ftp.wustl.edu
:under pub/MSDOS_UPLOADS/descent that will fix this problem for you.

But that would mean buying a Microsrot product...

   Try OS/2 Warp.  It's great!

So I have been told - but I am using a PC at work here. It has DR DOS on, and
so that is what I use. At home I use an Acorn RISC machine (if you don't know
what one of these is take a peek at comp.sys.acorn.*).

Thanks to all those who responded about the patch - I have it and it works
great. Superb game - shame about the control system...
