I thought I'd post my 2 pence' worth of knowledge for Descent. So here goes. There are three basic strategies for playing multiplayer Descent. 1) Higher Ground: The player selects a room or area to stake out and defend as if it were his home turf. This basically means staying in a room or hallway and covering all the entrances and exits, patrolling them. The advantage of this strategy is that you know when someone comes into the area; you'll hear a door open. The disadvantage to this strategy is that if there are a lot of doors to cover, you might not know which one is opening; if there is another way into the area without opening a door, someone can sneak up on you. 2) Weenie Roast: The player hides in ambush until an enemy crosses his path. The player kills the enemy, then picks another place to ambush him. Bad players tend to use this strategy a lot. 3) On the Go: The player keeps moving around the maze until he runs into someone else. The advantage of this strategy is that the player will get the element of surprise if he comes upon an enemy who may just be sitting there. The disadvantage is that someone using strategy 2 can kill you really easily. General tactics: - Don't stop moving. The more you move, the less they can hit you. - Don't kamikaze. You may kill him, but he's more likely to kill you, too. - Take potshots. Circle your enemy, taking a chance every few moments to get another shot in. If you can get behind him or to his side, blast him until he is almost facing you. Then fly around him some more. - Don't try to strafe if you're using a joystick. It's easier just to fly past him and turn around, and faster, too. - Use a joystick. Put the accelerator on button 2 and the fire key on button 1. Enjoy. -- ----------------------------- Maelstrom: ma...@primenet.com http://www.primenet.com:80/~mael1 "In order for a lie to exist, there must be a truth that it contradicts."
