Every time I run Devil it returns the error "Can't open bitmaps" or possibly
palettes or some graphics related thing that I don't want to go back and
check right now because i'm so tired that my eyes are about to explode. Is
there something obvious in the docs that i'm just missing, or am I just
stupid?

Well, for one thing, DEVIL needs to run in a directory off your
descent directory, as in c:\descent\devil. When it gives you that error,
it is probably looking for the file descent.pig in the wrong directory.
So just move your DEVIL directory (and macros and levels) so that it
branches off your descent directory. If that still doesn't work, e-mail
me.

Well, being me, I feel fairly qualified to answer this one. YOU'RE STUPID!

ATTENTION ALL DEVIL USERS WHO >AREN'T< STUPID LIKE ME!
------------------------------------------------------

When you unzip devil into your descent directory, USE THE -D PARAMETER!!

I'm getting the exact same error. This program is very finicky. I'd appreciate
any help on this as well.

I had that happen also..It turned out that I didn't RTFM before I
unzipped and neglected to use the -d option. Had to do a fresh reinstall
to get it to take. Now, if I could just figure out how to -use- this
friggin thing, I'd be as happy as an otter! :)
