Great, but TOUGH

Holy cow, this is one TOUGH game, even on some of the lower levels. Those
darn robots are just too smart sometimes. The AI is incredible, but
sometimes I find myself wishing the enemies were just a bit dumber.

'Course, the problem might be that I'm playing keyboard only, and have gotten
actually pretty good at it, but I'd like to take the pulse of this group with
players that have gone through quite a bit of Descent, and find out what
controllers you guys are using.

Phoenix? Wingman? Thrustmaster?

Or should I wait for that Spaceball Avenger thingy to come out?

Thanks

stick to the keys IMHO
once they become one with your mind, hell
you can move in any possible combination and still
have actual control over what you're doing.
if anyone wants to challenge me on this and in the
214 area code, go for it.

Oof. I can't imagine taking on the mid-to-upper levels in Descent with
just a keyboard. I'm using a Thrustmaster FLCS and can't say enough good
things about it. The programmability is very flexible and it feels like
just about the only stick out there that's durable enough to live thru my
spastic grip when playing Descent :)

I'm using Thrustmaster gear: F16-FLCS joystick, WCS-II throttle, and
Rudder Pedals. It truly is an incredible experience when you have both
hands and both feet working -- you feel like you're part of the machine!
I can't think of another game that I have enjoyed playing this much!

What would be really nice is VR helmet support that allowed you to look
in a different direction than you are moving (not that I can afford a
helmet right now :)).
