Has anyone else noticed a strange sound accompanied with a green x? I have only noticed it with the regisered version. Here's how it goes. I'll be flying around, minding my own business, when all of the sudden this noise I've never heard before comes out of my speakers. At the same time a green X appears on the wall, sometimes in one place, sometimes in another. I can't always make it reappear but in one level I could make it happen pretty regularly. That level is the one where you have to go in and back out of the three doors to make the generator open up. I sent a demo of this phenomenon to the guys at Interplay. I guess they thought I was on drugs cuz they never replied. SOOO, anyone else out there seen this too? Any explanations? BrianJ

This happens if they haven't been picked up for a while, especially concussion missiles. It makes a green flash and an unusual noise. (Originially I thought it was one of those intelligence robots and chased the sound around for 15 minutes) K.C.

This is the sound & electrical effect that occurs when a powerup "times out." Dropped powerups that have been around too long (5 minutes or so) will remove themselves from the game. This only happens to energy and shield powerups (and possibly lasers... not sure). It's explained in the README.TXT that came with Descent. -- Adam Pletcher Parallax Software ad...@netcom.com
