Using the mouse, I'm up to level 5. I'm now starting to get the hang of 
the joystick and may prefer it. However, the "pilot" that uses the 
joystick is only up to level three. Is there a way to switch the 
controller on the pilot that's up to level 5 to the joystick instead of 
the mouse?

You can always change your input device.  Hit F2 for options, select
"controls", and then pick whatever input device you want.

Uh uh...doesn't work that way.  You have to reinstall to add a joystick 
that wasn't originally picked.

OK I didn't RTFM.  You can use the SPACEBAR to change settings in the 
options menu.  It's nice to be able to switch auto-leveling on and off 
now. :)
