No, but you some mega software pirate and that is far worse. Buy
it, the game is well worth every penny. I have seen it as cheap
as $29.99, I bought it a $39.95 (minus two Babbage's discount
canrds which brought it down to $9.95). You got to play the
shareware version for free, so pay for the full thing.

See ya,

How about you go to one of your friends, the kind that have all the games
and even the ones that are not even released yet and ask for Descent?

I almost wish I *hadn't* bought it now ... Seems that the store-bought
version won't restore saved games or play back demos. All I get is some
error message that it can't open file moon01.bbm

I'm on a 486 SX2/66 with 4MB RAM and a soundblaster 16.

(I bet the pyr8 version at least *works* ... :) )

Before you start criticizing the company and posting that their product
doesn't work, take a little time to read the instructions. It has
already been stated here that this problem is caused by not having
enough files available in your config.sys.

I *did* read the instructions and the instructions mentioned nothing about
increasing the "files=" line in config.sys. I also checked the FAQ that
came on the descent disks and found nothing about it.

Spending my good cash on a product that doesn't work makes me
irritated, understandably.

(And besides, one of the unwritten rules of internet is that on alt groups,
flames get much more attention than polite requests for help. :) )

P.S. Thanks to Mark Allender at Parallax for mailing me about the problem.
