Direct X7 and D3?

I would like to install Direct X7 so that I can try out a new demo game, but
I don't want to screw up D3.

I don't think I can go back to Direct X6.1 after installing Direct X7.

Has anyone had problems with Direct X7 and D3 with Windows 98?

Thanks,
Sedger
