>>Interesting theory. So I suppose you put 10,000 miles on a car before you >>buy it, just to see if it will last? Suppose I had a copy of a car and tried it for 10 000 miles. I thought the car wasn't worth the money, so I deleted it. Nobody gets hurt, and I save some money instead of writing nasty letters to the company. >> Or perhaps you eat your food before >>paying for it, to see if it was good, and then puke it up and eat it again >>after you have paid. > >That was a stupid example. But i'd usually ask someone else their opinion on a >meal before i buy it. What a weak argument.. Copying software isn't doing any physical harm to anything. It's just a clone or copy of it. I don't like it, I get rid of it. What the hell does eating vomit have to do with buying a better version of a program? If a pirated game is good, I buy it, and the full game includes the manual, warranty and movies etc.. >>And of course before you pay for that life insurance >>policy, you're going to have to die a few times to make sure it will pay >>off. I know a few software companies and programmers who would love to >>help out on that last part... >>michael >> > >You are talking about permantly pirating a piece of software, which is not >what the guy was talking about. You are either ignorant of the practices >behind what i would call temporary pirating or are very well-to-do and can >afford any software you buy without even trying it. Personally, if more >companies would release demos (Like Caligari and their truespace demos) i >wouldn't pirate. How about going up a step. Make programs that aren't crap. Have you tried Redneck Rampge? Gimme a break. MDK? Nice graphics and sound, boring gameplay. Quake, RA? DAMN! Those I picked up. >However, a lot of companies do makes demos (like game companies) my question >is why did he even pirate MDK or Redneck Rampage. There were demos of the >games out and even my 13 year-old nephew could tell that those games were >shallow and not worth buying. You know, I really don't know.. Probably because it was there and sounded good. Haven't found much of a good source for demos, only sites with cheesy shareware games.
