Descent I and II Online?

I've been into PC gaming since about 2001... and I find myself getting
rather bored of many of the FPS/action games of today. Don't ask me why
I upgrade my PC in order to play them, though :P

Anyways, I've been sort of on a 'legacy game' kick. Meaning, I've been
playing Doom, Heretic, Duke Nukem 3D, the first Unreal, and am now
looking into trying Descent.. a very unique-looking game to me.

I read up on it, and have gathered that it uses very primitive Internet
support that, frankly, is not very realistic in today's age. I know
people still play it, but how? The All Seeing Eye is a very popular
server browser that only supports Descent 3.

What are the different ways people can play Descent I (and II, for the
matter) online?

Thanks
