joystick question on D1, D2, D3

I need to know what joystick you used on Descent2. I have the demo, and it
appears that the programming of the joystick buttons was very basic back
when the game came out, and that the game (which still has Dos command lines
and keyboard commands) in fact, doesn't even recognize my joystick at all
(maybe because it is connected by a USB port, which may not have even been
invented when D2 came out.
