I am wondering if anybody can please help me.

As you may have guessed, I am playing Descent Freespace - The Great
War (TGW), and am now up to "A Failure To Communicate." -- I cannot
get passed it. All the four escape pods are destroyed, and then the
communication station is blown to Kingdom Come!

I have tried following the mission recommendations, but I must be
missing something, the ships just seem too many and too quick (and
this is on the easiest skill level!).

Can anybody offer any hints, tips and/or advice?

Thank you in advance.

David.
