Glide is mainly used to perfection with a 3dfx board (voodoo) if i'm not
wrong, (if i am someone will shout at me, hehe), i found direct sound was
quicker than software using a matrox board (i'm using a SB audiopci 128), if
you want the max speed then disable sound altogether, not so much fun
though, also it's faster with v/sync on, (but on forsaken if v/sync is on
60fps as opposed to 180fps with v/sync off), The popping is usual when using
a high detail, just reduce it one more. Opengl plays crap on both my
machines, the same goes for matrox's official turbogl, best to stick with
d3d or if you can, get a voodoo, my single voodoo2 still keeps up with my
g400 max.
