How do I get a surveyor in C&C3 demo?

Hello!

In the single player demo with GDI level, one of the optional objectives
mentioned to get a surveyor in the tiberium area up north. Um, how do I
get this? I did a Google search and it appears to be a structure. I did
not see it. What did I miss? A screen shot and/or video would be helpful.

Thank you in advance. :)

Surveyor is on support structure menu (shield symbol), 3 down on the left.

Now tell me how to set a gather point for unit production - so tropps don't
assemble in a tiberium field!!

Hmm, I think I did that. I will check again in the full game (don't
have the demo anymore).

Click on a building and then left click I think on the area. Older C&C
games was right click IIRC.

It's right click in my demo, I think.
LMB on building then RMB on terrain.

BTW, are you able to beat Medium AI?
It seems to me that computer plays rather strangely in this demo.

Once I manage to beat it in 40 minutes without much sweat, then it beats
me 2 times in 10 minutes or so... walking in my base with his robots...

When I forced him to play "turtle style" he agressively spread all over
the map, wherever ther's a Tiberium, it seems. He built his base right
near my own, on the other side of the Tiberium field in my base. It
seems a bit strange, he should be bunkering up ant turtling in his
base(s), shouldn't he? Maybe that part of skirmish options doesn't work
or maybe the names of the styles are mixed up and mismatched to the
actual styles. Either way, I'm not touching it again, and play only
against "balanced" style AI.

What's your experience with the gameplay in the demo?

Find it very tough.
But then I've been playing C&C since about 1985 and am getting old and slow!

Same here with the new controls even on easy! EA said it would add the
old controls in a patch in the full game. I hope so!

1985? Dude, C&C didn't exist back then! Not even Dune 2 (remember that
great RTS game?). You mean 1995, right? :D

'95 I meant, yes - actually have the original box up on the shelf here, had
to go and check!!

Reason I'm finding it tough is that defenses are weak.
Technique I always liked best was to use sandbags to funnel the opposition
into my missile towers and chain guns - can't do that here. And keep getting
very confused about left / right click, and missing the Ctrl F5 etc location
bookmarks.

Still, Dune 2 was even worse... left click to select, left click to choose a
goto or attack command, then left click to select target. Unplayable,
right? - yet somehow we managed and enjoyed it.

I don't even remember. I remember I had a blast on that game with my IBM
PS/2 30 286 machine. I remember how cool the cutscenes, voices!!!, etc.

DUNE2! Now that's going back! What a great game it was for its time! 6
or 7 1.4 floppies if I remember.
I went & bought DUNE 2000 when it came out, Looked good, but just wasn't
the same.
Now have C&C3 & loving it.

Yup, Dune 2000 was pretty but not fun. Emperor for Dune was fun though
but not cool as Dune 2. I think they should stop with Dune RTS games. :)
