Need help with Generals' Direct Connect!

Me and my friend are trying to direct connect but when he connects I
can see him joing but I can't see him choosing any army or color and
after about a minute it says "player dropped, not responding".
I have a DI-614+ router and an ADSL modem. I've tried DMZ, port
forwarding but it doesn't seem to work. What should I do?

The Direct Connect option is almost completely unable to traverse firewalls or
routers, it's meant purely for local networks. You'll have to use the Internet
play option instead.
