I never had trouble finding him myself (although mission 6 can be pretty darn
hard) and I'd have to play through the mission again to figure out how to help
you, but you might find what you need in one of the Renegade FAQs on GameFAQs
(http://www.gamefaqs.com/) at
(http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/27560.html).

Been ages since I played, can you give a few more hints what the mission is
about to jog my memory?

It's the mission where you crash-land in the european town and have to find the
other members of the Dead-6. You run around on foot, mostly, dodging behind
medieval-looking houses. The next mission is "Obelisk of Oppression" which has
the huge Obie going up in the middle of a park. The mission after that is where
you're in a church and Nod decides to Nuke it.
