DMZ is not exactly what you want to do. On my router (not Linksys), the configuration option is called "Virtual Server". It might also be called Port Forwarding. Basically what it does is you punch in a port number and type (TCP or UDP) and all communication through that port gets sent directly to one computer. No muss, no fuss. If you both have routers or firewalls, normally only the host has to enable port forwarding. The ports that Generals uses are: TCP 80 (HTTP), 6667 (IRC chat), 28910 (GameSpy), 29900 (GameSpy), 29920 (GameSpy) and UDP 4321 (Generals), 27900 (GameSpy) However, you certainly don't have to forward all these ports. In fact, you don't have to forward any except for 4321, since when you both connect to Generals online the outgoing connections will allow your router to properly set up those connections. To forward port 4321, determine the LAN IP of the computer that will host the game. This IP is automatically assigned by the router but should remain consistent between turning the computer on and off. In Windows 95/98/ME you can determine your local LAN IP by going to start->run->winipcfg. Pick your network card from the drop-down list of adapters at the top of the window and look at the IP. In Windows NT/2K/XP, go to start->run->cmd (this will open a DOS-style command prompt) then type "ipconfig /all". Scroll through the output to find the section referring to your network card and look for the IP. The IP should probably be something like 192.168.1.xxx or 192.168.0.xxx, where xxx is a number between 0 and 255. Armed with the IP and the port 4321, go into the router setup and have all communication on that port forwarded to the specified LAN IP. I have personally had to do the same thing (albeit a different port) to play Rise of Nations with my buddy who also has a router. -- Tim "HeXetic" G. www.planetcnc.com "Nathan Brazil" <natebrazil@[no+spam)hotmail.com> wrote in message news:mqycnR_hAO9l56-iU-KYvg@comcast.com... > Greetings all... > > A friend of mine has done everything in his power to try to get C&C Generals > to work with his Linksys router.
