Okay, here's the problem:
I call up my University's slip server and log in. I use a program
called UMSLIP (U of M Slip). Then I go to my kali directory and edit the
wattcp.cfg file to my current IP address. I run kali, and connect to a
kali server. I see a list of everyone's IP addresses that are on the
server, but the names don't show up. Then I try to run a program, like
descent or C&C, but it says there are no multiplayer games to join. So I
exit the game. Or instead of running a game, I use KCHAT. Sometimes I
see other people on the channel, but then kali gives me a message that
everyone has unexpectedly left. Whatever I do, after I run a program,
and I list the people on the server by typing KALI /S, it tells me I'm
the only person on that server. So I leave that server. If I try to
connect again, to that server or any other, it says the server is not
responding. Then I hang up, call my internet provider, and log in again.
I run kali, connect to the server that wasn't responding before, and see
a long list of people using that server, but again, no names. Same thing
happens again.
Does anyone know why this occurs? I'm sure everything in the
wattcp.cfg file is correct. It's really frustrating, especially since
C&C is the game I want to play. I can't play multiplayer C&C by any
other method; my computer bombs out when C&C tries to init my modem.
Kali is pretty much the only option. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
TIA,
Julian Vandros
