I heard multiplayer is broken due to a patch from Westwood Studios to
make the game compatible with Windows XP. Is there another way or a
hack to make it work? I love the original game over the newer C&C
games.
Thank you in advance.

The XP-compatibility patch disables LAN play, but not modem or null modem play (apparently). If you've got two computers joined by null modem cables (serial cables) or they have modems and can dial each other, then go ahead and play. I've been looking into a whole batch of products that are designed to emulate null-modem over TCP/IP or IPX, but none of them seem to work for longer than 5 seconds. I can actually start a 2-player game over TCP/IP on my home network by using one of these "null modem emulator" tools, but the game loses synchronisation almost immediately. If I ever find a tool that works properly, you can bet I'll post about it here. I've got a little LAN party coming up so I'm hoping to test out some more tools with the help of my buddies (running back and forth between rooms is really annoying!). Meanwhile, if you want to know about running any of the classics in XP, you might check out this article which I wrote recently: www.planetcnc.com/features/techtroopers/classicsInXP/ -- Tim "HeXetic" G. www.planetcnc.com <ANT...@zimage.com> wrote in message news:vcdhkj239b0qb0@corp.supernews.com... > I heard multiplayer is broken due to a patch from Westwood Studios to > make the game compatible with Windows XP.
