I run my pc through a server connected to the internet, and my net connection uses windows standard internet connection sharing over XP on a ASDL line. However I want to directly link my pc to a friends (who has same exact set up as me but in differnt location) to play C&C Generals & other games together but he needs my remote IP, every find ip site I use brings up the servers ip and I need to find the one for my computer so he can connectt to me, Can anybody with the knoledge please let me know. I have tryed running ipconfig and ip finding sites and we only get the IPs of the servers which is no good, we have also tryed to setup a standard VPN over windows between the two servers but still have no luck as they wont connect, were complely stumped and any help would be brillaint. Thankyou, David. gowa...@yahoo.com P.S. or if theres anyother way of doing this perhaps seting up somesort of other "fake" network between us over the net? could you please help.

Sounds like an interesting setup. I was going to suggest a dial up connection so that you can get a fixed IP. However, if you have a W2K server that is connected to the internet, you would already have a fixed IP. If you had a fixed IP, you wouldn't have a problem. I am guessing that you have a W2K or WXP workstation acting as a server. I don't think you can go through ICS to get the client's address on the other side since the address is translated at the servers. You can also play your games on the server. That may still not work for the long run since the address you got from the ISP may have come from a DHCP server. You would have to do Ipconfig each time you reboot your machine. Don't know how your game works but can you play it through a common server like ICQ etc.? small...@canada.com "David .F. Well I have a Set IP on the server(both running xp) both network and a automaticaly assign IP for the internet but ill I have for my connected pc is my IP only for my network address. There's no chance of being able to play the games on the servers as there just basic machines. The only way we have of being able to connect is via the servers but I have no IP to beable to direct connect to, the same go for my friend. Any Ideas? You need to do a bit of research to get this to work. Port forwarding the ports Generals uses to the IP of the machine you are playing on is the first step. Unless you login to the online portion of Generals and make a game that way, I bet the only way to get your setup to work is to setup VPN. If you can get VPN to work between the two networks and your friend is able to ping IP addresses within your network, you should be able to make a LAN game. Good luck. "David .F.
