Mouse out of control

I have experience a problem now and then that drives me crazy.

When I am directing some unit to target a specific area, by pushing
CNTL, my mouse freaks out and jumps all over hell and back. Then
these white cursor squares appear and the game is about worthless.
A friend who also plays says he has had the same problems.

If you have any suggestions or answers please post, tks in advance.

I've had a similar problem. If there are a lot of units on the map and
I use the ctrl or alt keys, my curser goes haywire, jumping all over the
screen and pressing both buttons randomly.

If anyone has any advice, *please* post it, this is really annoying,
esp. when I'm about to win. Thanks!

I would just like to say that I used to have that problem a lot, but I
haven't in a while. It may be the version patch that fixes it, I am not
sure. Try the 1.19 patch if you don't have it already.

what i had to do is get a new mouse driver. westwood says microsoft
mouse driver up to and including 8.* will not work properly. logitec
mouse driver work also. i got the intellipoint mouse and it works
fine. had to get a new mouse anyways.

Yeah, I get the same prob. too. I'm gonna find another mouse driver and
see it that works. I've tried both mmouse.com and tpmouse.com, both do the
same sort of thing (but diff. effect).

See if you can get a hold of other mouse drivers and try 'em.

I have 2 machines that has a PS/2 type mouse. One a Compaq Presario P90 at
home and an IBM DX4-100 at work. Both were having problems with the mouse
similar to what's discussed here.

I loaded Microsoft mouse driver 9.0 at home in the Compaq and that seems to
fix the problem (it uses Logitech drivers before). I loaded the same MS mouse
Version 9.0 in the IBM and still having mouse problem. Well, 1 out 2 ain't
bad BUT I want to get it running in my IBM at work! 8-)

Have you tried to change your mouse driver????
Try a 100% microsoft compatibel mouse driver. Ifthis fails try bying
another mouse driver!!!! And this time buy a microsoft mouse driver!!

This is my best guess, try it!!

I haven't seen the post that came before this, but I'd like to add that my
Mouse was =destroyed= by C&C. Ok, I don't have proof - all I know is I've
been using this mouse for 2 and a half years, and have cleaned it
regularly, never had it dropped, crushed, or mistreated. One day while
playing C&C multiplayer on a scenario never tried before, we'd been playing
for an hour or so, had built up HUGE bases and armies, suddenly my mouse
goes berzerk (right in the middle of a 12-Heli attack from the opposing
side).

I figure it's all to do with the processor power consumption, and the whole
machines lagging. But once things quieten down, I still can't contorl the
mouse properly. Oh - I am using a 100% Microsoft mouse driver. So,
anyway, I hang up on him, reboot the machine, and then find the mouse is
=still= broken. It just doesn't respond at all anymore. I've unplugged
it, cleaned it, blown into the pins, everything, it's just dead. No
warning, dead. Luckily, a mate had a spare mouse and he's letting me
borrow his indefinitely. But I like my one better!

Westwood: I demand a new mouse!! :)
