Try and see it from our view. As for myself, I've been using the net
for 3 1/2 years. When I first got on, sex and the like was not to be
seen in wide amounts. It was there, but not in your face. Spam didn't
happen. People who did spam were rare enough as to the point where
they were dealt with on a "frontier justice". Im all for it. But there
are so MANY, it's worthless now. AOL COMMERCIALIZED the Net. Something
that has ruined it. All of the spam. Spam is so bad, I don't use my
real mail address on Usenet. That has left me out of a lot of
discussion. And some of the best groups are so over-run, I ignore 
them. Secondly, the whole sex thing largly origniated from AOL. AOL
was a quick sex gateway. Domino effect there. Last, and most
importantly, we allowed the rest of the world on the internet. The
people on the internet at the time were so few, that it WAS harmony.
Word of hate and lameness traveled quickly. So this stuff was gotten
rid of. People without technical knowledge are on the Net, asking
questions that waste the time and bandwidth. It becomes a cesspool.
The internet had a purpose then. That purpose is distorted now. Largly
due to AOL. Not all AOL people are that way, but AOLame is that way
because most are.
