Party

I went to a party, Mom,
I remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink,
So I drank soda instead.

I felt really proud inside,
The way you said I would,
I didnt drink and drive,
Even though others said I should.

I know I did the right thing,
I know youre always right,
Now the party is finally ending,
And everyone drives out of sight.

As I got in my car,
I knew Id get home in one piece,
Because of the way you raised me,
So responsible and sweet.

I started to drive away,
But as I pulled onto the road,
The other car didnt see me,
It hit me like a load.

As I lie here on the pavement,
I hear the policeman say,
The other guy is drunk,
And now Im the one who will pay.

Im lying here drying,
I wish youd get here soon,
Why has this happened to me,
My life burst like a balloon.

There is blood all around me,
Most of it mine.
I hear the paramedic say,
Ill be dead in a short time.

I just wanted to tell you,
I swear I didnt drink,
It was the others,
The others didnt think.

He didnt know where he was going,
He was probably at the same party as I.
The only difference is,
He drank and I will die.

Why do people drink,
It can ruin your whole life.
Im feeling the sharp pains now,
Pains just like a knife.

The guy who hit me is walking,
I dont think its fair
Im lying here dying,
While all they can do is stare.

Tell my brother not to cry,
Tell Daddy to be brave,
And when I get to heaven,
Write Daddys Little Girl on my grave.

Someone should have told him,
Not to drink and drive.
If only theyd have taken the time,
I would still be alive.

My breath is getting shorter,
Im becoming very scared.
Please dont cry for me,
Because when I needed you, you were always there.

I have one last question,
Before I say goodbye,
I didnt ever drink,
So, why am I to die?

This is the end, Mom.
I wish I could look you in the eye
To say these final words,
I love You and Goodbye.
