To be honest, I have no idea what this 1964 analog device does, nor what
any of the following means:

VARIABLE BREAKPOINTS
TEMPERATURE COMPENSATION for THERMAL DRIFT in DIODES
PARALLAX ADJUSTMENT
CENTRAL SLOPE ADJUSTMENT
SOLID STATE DESIGN
DIRECTLY INTERCHANGEABLE with EXISTING FIXED BREAKPOINT DFG UNITS
WIDE COMPUTING BANDWIDTH
UNLIMITED RESOLUTION

(Ok, my old rangefinder camera had "parallax" correction in the
viewfinder to differentiate between close and far objects.)

Anyway, this is an offering by EAI, which made analog computers.
The brochure contains detailed performance specs.

The full brochure is available for view at:

I see the brochure was typeset using a Vari-Typer.

A function generator produces a signal the waveform of which has a desired shape.

What is a "vari-typer"? It appears the brochure's text had two
different typefaces, one for the body, and one for the sub-headings.
The front page has large type.

I must admit I forgot a lot of that stuff about functions. Learned
it a long time ago, but never used it.

This is a good page:
https://oztypewriter.blogspot.ca/2012/11/on-this-day-in-typewriter-history-raaks.html

Basically:

It has interchangeable type elements, like an IBM Selectric.

It also does proportional spacing, in four sizes. But the unit system is crude,
similar to that on an IBM Executive typebar typewriter, but with the 5-unit
characters squeezed to only 4 units.

Unlike a Selectric, it isn't as similar to a regular typewriter. It has a
"three-bank keyboard"; that is, it has fewer keys, and you have to use a third
shift to type numbers.

Some old typewriters were like that too. But unlike a normal typewriter, the
keys on a Vari-Typer needed a lot of force to press, and so it wasn't comparable
to a normal typewriter (i.e. an Underwood 5 manual, let alone an electric
typebar typewriter) the way a Selectric was.

This page pictures an older one at the top, but the ones I had are pictured further down:
http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/varityper.html

This page pictures a very old one only:
http://americanhistory.si.edu/collections/search/object/nmah_849997

This page pictures later printing technologies made by the same company, as well as the kind of Vari-Typer I meant:

And on the Internet Archive, you can get a manual for one of the later models:

and a catalog of the proportionally-spaced type faces available for it:

You're welcome. When I saw no reply from anyone for a while, I had thought I had
given more information than anyone else could be interested in.
