Writing of magazines, back then, the UK market had a magazine called "Computer Shopper", NOT the US one, the UK one was developed by a man called "* Dennis", whose previous point of interest was as have being prosecuted for being associated with a porn charge. As far as I remember, the judge more or less let him off, as he thought that Mr. D. was of "Low intelligence " He next produced the above magazine, which was first printed on very low quality paper, but had great articles about every sort of computer, including the LYNX. As the years passed, the quality of the paper went up, but the content collapsed to the point where it was hard to find actual articles among the dross. By that time, Mr. Dennis was gone with lotsofcash. Now we have Facebook.. "O tempo, o mores". I must check if there are any computer magazines now. -- greymaus.ireland.ie Just_Another_Grumpy_Old_Man

Computer Shopper was indeed good to start with. As was Personal Computer World; that got fatter and fatter with more and more adverts and Wintel. I fitted a special large leterbox for PCW. -- Using UNIX since v6 (1975)... Use the BIG mirror service in the UK: http://www.mirrorservice.org

Oh, so we're not dealing with some sort of low-life, but instead a courageous crusader for freedom of expression. I think I've even _heard_ of a magazine called OZ in association with claims that it was of historical significance. John Savard

I think I've even _heard_ of a magazine called > OZ in association with claims that it was of historical significance. I think Felix Dennis was a bit of both. He certainly claimed to have spent millions of quid on cocaine and hookers in the 80s and there are claims that he had someone killed. The interesting thing about the OZ trial, apart from the defendants turning up in school-girl outfits, was that two of them were defended by John Mortimer QC - who went on to write the Rumpole Of The Bailey stories. -- Andy Leighton => an...@azaal.plus.com "We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty!" - Douglas Adams

After I got out of the Navy, my parents bought me a coffee mug for my birthday from Leanin' Tree. Sadly, they no longer make it. Anyway, there is some old geezer cowhand on the mug, and he says basically 'I spent all of my money on booze and broads. The rested I wasted.'.
