Someone please remind me when "left-wingers" ever controlled the government in the United States, because I can't seem to recall that that has ever been the case. The Overton Window has been yanked so far to the right that based on policy, Nixon would now be seen as a radical socialist. The reality is that over the past 40+ years, it has been the Republican administrations that have markedly increased the federal deficit. When it comes to fiscal responsibility, as with so many of their so-called core issues, the facts reveal the Republicans to be complete hypocrites.
