  But they have the world's best mailing list program. I shop at a
number of RS stores, in three states. In spite of this, and the fact
that 80% of the time people can't spell both "davidsen" and
"schenectady" correctly, RS sends me exactly one copy of each catalogue.
I DO get catalogues which are not sent to most local customers, however.

  This is vastly better that places like Sharper Image and DAK, who send
me catalogues under all the possible spellings of name and address. Oh,
and I live "Seward Place," which most companies change to sewart,
steward, stewart, seaward, and place becomes park, palace (wow), ave,
st, and way.

  The people one block over are on Park Place, in a city with one Park
Place and two park Aves, plus six or seven {whatever} parkways. They
never have any trouble with RS, either.

  Do you ever try to buy without giving them a name and address? One guy
told me he wasn't allowed to, another said I would forfit my warantee,
asked me to sign something saying I wouldn't give him my name. You're
right, the ones with two or more digit IQ have left, although in my
youth I sold hi-fi from the Commonwealth Ave store, and made a LOT of
money. All I did was to listen to the customers tell me about their
current system and ask "which part are you going to upgrade next?"
