I'm surely not mindless. :-) Generally speaking the best place to seek for VERY old and VERY weird machines is Soviet Union. You should not trust me but I've hacked machines from relays and gas-filled tubes, transistors and (of course) all generations of ICs (I'm 25 years old). Now I'm hacking 486; but the PC right to me is a Soviet clone of DEC Professional 350 with a 5Mb hard disk (it REALLY works! I've ported Unix to it ;-) I've seen a ternary machine /with logical 0s, 1s and -1s!/ (SETUN', this weird one mentioned by Knuth in "Art of Prog.") BTW, someday I'll choose a bit of time to tell you a whole lot of funny stories about Soviet machines and Soviet hackerdom. Hello from Moscow! Vadim Antonov DEMOS, Moscow, USSR (It is NOT a joke!)
