The graphics lab mentioned in the last prank had synthetic carpeting, probably from before computers were introduced. Yeah, bad planning. It didn't take me long, wearing shoes with synthetic soles, to discover the phenomenon of static electricity (I came from a humid country where static is unknown) and that static could be use to zap people (with a key). Or computing machinery. The Teleray T1061, when zapped on the case, near the power switch, would start beeping until powered down. Zapping the case of the Tektronix hardcopy printer would trigger a print. Warning: Don't try this on your machinery. I'm not responsible for what happens. I was lucky I never tried to zap any RS232 ports or such things.
