The quantum atlas-II drives are very rugged and seem to be very good. (1+ years in a news machine as a spool drive). These drives also cost more then the fireballs. I think the oldest quantum atlas-II drives we use have been news spool drives for over 2 years. I believe that Quantum purchased the DEC drive division 2-3 years ago and the atlas-II's are drives designed originally by the DEC drive division. The oldest working drive we have (purchased 1994?) is a DEC DSP3210 2GB drive that has been a news spool drive from the start.
