No argument there, although as someone else in this thread pointed out,
the publication of these and other texts certainly means they've been
"digitized"--an unneccesarily fancy way of saying they've been typed
into a word processor and are stored on disk somewhere.

In fact, some students in New York broke the Israelis' stranglehold on
the Qumram scrolls several years ago by reconstructing them from an
electronic database/lexicon/concordance, then publishing them over the
Internet.

I know of several other texts that can purchased separately--i.e., the
Samaritan Pentateuch, the Textus Receptus, a conflation of Byzantine
texts, etc.--which means each of these is also digitized.

As the other poster pointed out, there isn't really any workable method
of doing an interval-based search other than with digitized text,
although I must point out myself that I don't buy their claims for a
moment.

The book I've seen on the subject (The Signature Of God) claims that
only the Samaritan Pentateuch carries the codes--a pretty dangerous
statement to make, since it implies that the SP is the only legitimate
text.

Most Hebrew words are built on a three-consonant base, to which
prefixes, infixes and suffixes are added. Certain letters appear so much
more often than others in the bases that any frequency-based statistical
criteria are meaningless.

And as others have pointed out, _any_ text of sufficient
length--including a 30-gallon pot of alphabet soup--is going to reveal
"encoded messages" if you play around with interval-based searches long
enough.

There's plenty enough legitimate prophecy in the Bible to keep things
exciting without adding National Enquirer-level textual criticism to
invent more.
