        As a one time 'manager' I can sympathise with some of your
feelings. However, when you see a situation where you have a problem to
fix, that can be done in say, six weeks, and the manager says 'we have
six months to fix this problem' - hell, he (or she) is trying to make it
easy for you!
        One day you may find yourself in a management position, and you
will find your attitudes change more than you think.
        To keep strictly to the terms of the newsgroup, the year 2000
problem MAY be quite simple for some companies, but for others may
involve considerable time and expense. Many businesses, for example,
distributors of fast moving consumer goods, have no more than a six
months working time frame, whereas others are already negotiating
contracts/leases etc. that continue into the next century. THEY have
already found out if their software is year 2000 compliant, and if it
isn't, are doing something about it, pretty damm quick! I have already
completed a year 2000 conversion project for a company. The project had
full support from directors and managers, and they are now running with
fully compliant systems, and laughing at other companies who are asking
'how big is the problem'.
