The 2560 Mother-Friendly Card Mangler (a piece of hardware known for having 2 input hoppers, 5 output hoppers and a few U-turns and flip-overs in between, all operating in a non-deterministic manner*) managed to make life miserable for people well into the 370 era. I had the misfortune of having one on a 370/125 (the same 125 that MAI cut a 4" square hole into to run a bazillion wires through for their Brand X add-on memory). I was actually there when the "engineer" took a Sawzall to the chassis. Anyway, the 3125 CPU's Integrated Mumble Adapter supported the 2560. * As an example of the kind of fun you can have, which input hopper fed the read station and which one fed the punch station depended on what partition your job landed in under DOS/VS POWER. As you can imagine, in an academic environment, merriment ensued as students punched their output on other student job decks innocently waiting in the (alleged) read hopper.
