I don't really see the point in even *attempting* to address the technical 
challenges of a Bering Strait bridge, unless the political situation changes so 
that we have a reliably friendly nation across it.

Of course, if a Bering Strait bridge is impractical, so much more so would be 
bridges going from Quebec to Baffin Island and thence to Greenland and thence, 
perhaps connecting a few more dots of land on the way, to France and the 
continent of Europe. Now, *that* would unite most of the world's industrialized 
democracies!
