The Quora website is asking for answers at

and various Netizens have volunteered such candidates as 
- the Stuxnet worm; 
- Early versions of Microsoft Word; 
- the Linux kernel; 
- spreadsheets-graphics-database in 1983 when memory was just 640K; 
- Hotspot implementation of the Java Virtual Machine
- IBM z/OS; 
- TeX written by Donald Knuth; 
- Chess for the Sinclair ZX81 - 1K ZX Chess; etc. 

For twenty-five years (since July of 1993) Yours Truly Mentifex here has been coding an AI Mind, first in REXX on the Commodore Amiga, then in Forth on a computer from FreePC.com (they gave away 40,000 free Windows 98 machines), then in JavaScript for Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE), and more recently in Perl. I hereby claim that the artificial Mind at

is a serious contender for “the most sophisticated software” because the AI Mind can think and reason with concepts in natural language. As of three days ago, you can ask the AI “what do you think” and it will tell you.
