Mine have widened over time, as a child of the 60's/70's, hard rock is the preferred genre, but I started going to the playboy jazz festival at the hollywood bowl in 1984 (and went every year thereafter until 2010) which exposed me to a much wider range of good music (live Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Sarah Vaughn, Joe Williams, Chick Corea (and later RTF), Larry Carlton, George Benson, Etta James, Ozomatli, Celia Cruz, Spyro Gyra, YellowJackets, Duke Ellington, Herbie Hancock, Stanley Jorden, Maynard Ferguson, and four hundred others (over 25 years of festivals)). For the last couple of years live folk, bluegrass, and yes, opera have entered the mix. Live music rules and doesn't always work as recorded music (e.g. can't listen to Opera on the stereo, but really enjoy the live performance).
