I believe that is what happened to RCA, too.  Sarnoff put his kid
in charge and the company declined.

I haven't made up my mind on Tom Watson Jr.  On the one hand, the
company certainly did very well and S/360 was an enormous hit.
But would this have happened even without him?  Would someone
else did a better job?  When one reads Father, Son & Co, one
gets mixed impressions.
