I remember a story about a rather precocious student who got into trouble on a number of occasions. He was surprised that anyone could ask operators to mount a disk pack, and they would do it without question as per their orders. One day they threw out an old pack, and he salvaged it and took it away. He replaced the platters with gramophone records, labelled the pack (physically) and sneaked it back into the computer room. Then he got the operators to mount it. The destruction was considerable. -- Using UNIX since v6 (1975)... Use the BIG mirror service in the UK: http://www.mirrorservice.org
