I mentioned "awk", and yacc in a previous posting as
being strangely named UNIX programs. (Awk is the initials
of the guys who wrote it, Yacc is "Yet Another Compiler
Compiler"). How about other creatively named programs?

A friend of mine worked as a student employee as a programmer for the
institute of mining at the TU Berlin. One of the programs she wrote
was a mesh generator which generated an input file for the FEA program
ADINA. She tried several days to find a name for her program that
would fit the acronym "ANGINA", but no success.

At last the user of her program came up with "Multilayered Assembler
Regarding Environment Networks". The second part of the programms'
name was "Maren".
