There was a DEC OS whose sources were absolutely rife with quotes, in this case, famous quotes which applied to the routines in question (the sorts of quotes which can be found in Bartlett's). Anyway, the OS was RSX11 (or was it RT11, no RSX, I think - don't ask me, I was a PDP10 hacker, 11's were teeny toys), around 1976. RSX had provisions for a foreground and background process running simultaneously. There was a source code module called RMONFB.MAC (perhaps Realtime MONitor Foreground/Background). Every routine in the file had apropos quotes - about scheduling and timing and queueing and i/o, etc. - very cute. Does anyone remember hacking this or have a copy of it? I bet I have a copy on a magtape somewhere. (Or a listing!) This was DEC proprietary, but certainly the quotes could be posted without the code.
