The inside of the A1000 cover did indeed have the signatures of the
designer's, including the paw-print of Jay Miner's dog. Also, if you
look at many of Commodore's servicing diagrams (including those in the
back of the A2000 User's Guide), you will find amusing messages near the
engineering info box.

AmigaOS 1.2 also had some hidden messages. They were accessed through
an incredibly tedious keyboard operation (which I cannot remember), and
then pressing F1 to F10 printed the names of the people who wrote the
OS (first names only). However, this was not all. If you did a further
operation (by this time having used at least 5 fingers holding down
various keys), the message would appear "Amiga: born a champion". Then,
when you removed and reinserted a disk, a message would appear that was
not very complimentary to Commodore.

The message, it is said, was put in when a couple of programmers had
just been given redundancy notices. Funnily enough, only
days after the message was reported, CBM announced that it would be
producing a version 1.3! The messages were heavily encrypted, and I
don't think that anyone ever found them in the (at the time) 256K
AmigaOS kernal.

This sort of hidden feature or message is common, particularly in games,
where it is called an "easter egg".
