Once long ago, in 1973 to be exact, some grad students at Illinois, including my friend Scott Davidson, found an advertisement for a crackpot book named, as far as I recall, Psychic Data Processing. They couldn't resist getting a copy, but none of them wanted it addressed to themselves. They ended up ordering it in the name of one Peter P. Levin, at his office address in the U of Illinois Digital Computer Laboratory. The office address given was the room that held one of the PDP-11 computers. So what other reasonable names for people are as homophonic with the name of some computer as the pair <Peter P. Levin, PDP-11> ? Doug Jones jo...@herky.cs.uiowa.edu
