Its that time of year again, kiddies - the <dog days>. I have been told
that the name comes from the dominant positioning of Canis Major/Canis
Minor/Sirius - the <dog> star in the summer skies at this time of year.
But! I have never personally verified this.
Alternatively, I HAVE noticed that my own dog spends most of his time
these days with his tongue hanging out, showing increased interest in
resting his 2-year-old butt in the shade, and smelling a bit riper than usual.
So which is it REALLY linked to - the historic hallucinations of shepherds or
pooped out puppy dogs?
