The D didn't have the extra display instructions. The E was specified a
couple of years after the D was contracted for, when it began to appear that
Raytheon might fail to deliver the CDC. I forget if it was a new contract
or an extension to the old one. But the display functions were definitely
added requirements.

You bet. There are a couple of other MITRE retirees who were a lot closer
to the 9020E than I ever was and I've forwarded them some of these postings,
hoping to lure them onto the news group but with no luck so far. Also I
forwarded your post in which you mentioned LATCC to a friend still at MITRE
who worked on the NAS installation at West Drayton. There was a coal
miner's strike or something while they were working on that project and they
told about working by candle light and wearing gloves at their desks.
