Back in about '82 I worked for the Micro Lab here at USU. We used Heathkit H19 terminals on all of our home-built CP/M machines. One of the guys in the lab got fed up with the limited character graphics capabilities of the H19. So we decided to do a little hacking on the character generator ROM. After playing around a bit we ended up dividing the cursor into a 2X4 grid. With the graphics mode and reverse video we were able to use all 256 combinations. We piggy-backed the graphics ROM to the regular character rom and mounted an external select switch. Then with a small graphics library written in Turbo Pascall we had quite the low-res graphics engine on our hands. With the 25'th line, we got 160x100 resolution. All that was left was to change out the 2MhZ xtal for a 4MhZ so that we could do our graphics at 19.2k baud. Has anyone else done some interesting hacks to terminals? =============================================================================== Gehri Grimaud ge...@cc.usu.edu Utah State University gehri@usu.bitnet Office of Computer Services tel.
